FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Hall Effect on a keyboard?

Unlike traditional switches with metal contacts, HE switches use magnets and sensors to detect keypresses. This "non-contact" design allows the keyboard to measure the exact travel distance of every key with 0.1mm precision.

Is Hall Effect keyboard worth it?

Absolutely, especially for users who prioritize performance and customization. For Gamers: It is currently the "gold standard." With support for Rapid Trigger and ultra-low latency, it significantly improves counter-strafing and movement precision in FPS games like Valorant, CS2, and Apex Legends. For Daily Use: One keyboard can have "two personalities." Through software, you can set it to a hyper-responsive mode for gaming and a stable, mistake-free mode for typing.

What is the difference between mechanical keyboard and Hall Effect keyboard?

The core differences lie in the actuation principle and customizability:Traditional Mechanical Keyboards: Rely on physical metal contacts. The actuation point is fixed (e.g., 2.0mm) and cannot be changed.Hall Effect (HE) Keyboards: Rely on magnetic induction. The actuation point is fully adjustable. You can set a MelGeek HE keyboard's actuation anywhere from 0.1mm to 4.0mm. Furthermore, HE keyboards eliminate "debounce delay," making them several times faster than traditional mechanical boards.

Do Hall effect keyboards last longer?

Yes, they typically last much longer. Because Hall Effect switches have no physical friction or wear between metal contacts, the structure is theoretically capable of a nearly infinite lifespan. MelGeek magnetic switches are rated for up to 100 million keystrokes—double that of standard mechanical switches (approx. 50 million). They maintain a smooth feel over time without issues like double-clicking or poor contact.

Do Hall-effect keyboards all support rapid triggering?

Not all magnetic keyboards on the market are optimized for it, but all MelGeek HE series keyboards fully support Rapid Trigger. Additionally, we support Dynamic Keystrokes (DKS), which allows you to bind up to four different actions to a single key based on the depth of the press and release (e.g., walking on a light press, running on a deep press), pushing your gameplay potential to a new level.

Are Hall Effect keyboards good for long typing sessions, or only gaming?

It's excellent for both. You can set a deeper actuation point (e.g., 2.0mm) to prevent typos while working, and switch to a shallow setting for gaming. Plus, our Gasket Mount design ensures a smooth, "thocky" typing sound.
